It’s Time for Silicon Valley To Complete Its Job of Interrupting the Racist Drug War
It Has Actually Been Racist From The Beginning and Bigotry Can not End Up Until It Does

Mark Zuckerberg, the Icarus of the Web, is discussing his own staff members about whether Facebook need to be accountable for correcting the lies of certain high ranking politicians. The answer seems apparent, however are they truly prepared to select which lies require their individual attention?
Icarus was reversed by attempting to fly expensive and to be above everything, however there is another Greek misconception that is more ¨ down to Earth ¨ literally.
As I enjoy the relatively inexhaustible torrent of prohibitionist propaganda, I am advised of the Greek misconception about Hercules and the stables of King Augeas.
The term “Augean stables” implies a huge mess, due to the fact that King Augeas had a huge variety of cattle, which were rounded up into the stables every night, however no one cleaned up after them. (Federal governments always expect other individuals to do their dirty work.)
As a consequence, the stables overruned with what the Greeks called “drug education.”
As in Hercules’ time, the federal government provides the fodder at one end, and the other end– the Greeks called it the “media”– produced the inevitable item. It stank to high paradise, however it seemed impossible to do anything about it.
You couldn’t smell it from the better neighborhoods, and besides, if everyone who lived near the stables would simply stop breathing, it wouldn’t be a problem.
However, as the story goes, Hercules was provided the job of cleaning the stables, but he had to do it all in only one day. Clearly not even he might shovel that fast, and I know simply how he must have felt.
Being a superhero, Hercules handled the accomplishment, and the way he did it gives me hope. He diverted a number of rivers to stream through the stables and flushed them out.
Back in the genuine world, what does this have to do with the war on us? What are the “rivers” that we can divert?
One clue actually originates from the myth. When King Augeas declined to pay Hercules, as he had assured he would, the king’s child informed the fact, and was exiled for doing so.
( He was sent to a location the Greeks called “rehab”, which he stated reminded him of his father’s stables.)
On the other hand back in the genuine world, the American people are getting fed up with the stench of the lies that are being told to them– allegedly to secure them.
For apparent factors, the present crisis in the ” criminal justice system ¨is focused on race, but it needs to also be apparent that these issues are inextricably connected to what we call the Drug War. Second, the Drug War is a “legacy” of the world that Silicon Valley, aka the Web, has partly interrupted and now it must finish the job.
The Drug War, and Cannabis Restriction, (it’s a ¨ function, not a bug ¨ )are still supported by a huge propaganda campaign mislabeled as Drug Education. Simply the Drug Czar ´ s office (Workplace of National Drug Control Policy) has a spending plan of $3791 million.
The 2019 Spending Plan for the National Institute for Drug Abuse was $1,419,844,000 None of this money was for real ¨ police”. And how would we represent the $3.4 billion to pay for housing federal drug war prisoners?
The greatest financial expense of the Drug War would have to be counted in the damage done to the lives of its targets.
In the 2002 study ” The Effect of Imprisonment on Wage Mobility and Inequality,” scientist Bruce Western “discovered that incarceration can permanently modify an individual’s life course, disrupt key life transitions, and damage access to consistent work. Incarceration can also extremely effect future financial stability and wage earning. The research study looked at boys who were incarcerated in prison or prison between 1979 and 1998.
According to Western’s study, the loss of incomes occurs partially since incomes increase at a slower rate following incarceration.
And think what … Blacks are practically 4 times as most likely to be jailed for cannabis as whites, although marijuana usage rates are very similar. And the history of cannabis restriction is ridiculously racist.
Anybody who wishes to talk about racism in America, and specifically bigotry and the cops, should challenge the Drug War and cannabis prohibition or they are simply poseurs.
Anybody who talks about defunding the authorities and safeguarding minority communities without attending to the Drug War, starting with cannabis restriction, is just avoiding the difficult decisions that have actually to be made.
It interfered with the old journalism and the old political order.
Speak, shout, shriek, text, Tweet and e-mail however make yourself heard. It is actually within your reaches.
What have you done for flexibility today?
